A minimalist coffee bar with an easygoing vibe, Document Coffee in Koreatown is a tranquil escape from the busy city. I ordered the Document Cold (milk + concentrate cold brew + syrup) and it was a little sour for my liking. $5.50 is more than I prefer to pay for a cup of coffee, but I also understand that when coffee is more expensive, it’s because it (generally) is due to the quality of the beans. I stopped in on a late Sunday morning and the place was almost empty, which surprised me given the hustle-and-bustle neighborhood it’s smack dab in the middle of. It’s a large coffee shop with plenty of seating inside, and the bright lighting makes this place seem warm and inviting, yet also chill and trendy. There is a beautiful patio area outside of the coffee shop and ample free parking (an awesome added bonus) directly behind Document. Try it out for yourself the next time you’re exploring around K-town! Document Coffee is located at 3850 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90010.

This cute new coffee shop in West Hollywood is a sight for sore eyes for my fellow aesthetically pleasing interior seekers. The minimalism decor, bright space, friendly staff members, delicious coffee, and Donut Snob donuts (only available on Friday mornings until they sell out), make the new Assembly Coffee in West Hollywood an all-around perfect place to get energized yet chill out simultaneously. I ordered an iced coffee with almond milk and my friend ordered a pour-over, and we shared an assortment of delicious and pretty donuts. I’d recommend you check out The Assembly Coffee at for a gorgeous, calming space and delicious coffee next time you're running around WeHo. Located at 634 N. Robertson Blvd, West Hollywood, CA 90069.
Copa Vida is great because it is very spacious and open, while also feeling totally friendly and intimate at the same time. The interior design is lovely and minimalistic, and the cafe is well-lit from the abundance of natural light shining through the large windowed walls. The food options on their menu looked so yummy, but both Jeannie and I just ordered beverages. I ordered the Chai Tea Latte and my friend Jeannie ordered a colorful iced tea. We grabbed a table and enjoyed our drinks as we chatted the time away, and she was even able to pull out her lap top and connect to the free wifi. I’d also like to mention that there’s a free 90-minute parking lot directly across the street. I’ll definitely be back to Copa Vida the next time I need a coffee break exploring Pasadena – and highly recommend you do the same! Copa Vida is located at 70 S. Raymond Ave, Pasadena, CA 91105.
After hearing about the well-known Blue Bottle coffee time and time again, I knew I had to try it out for myself. There are two LA locations – one downtown and one in Venice – with a third location coming soon to Echo Park. I stopped by the Venice location while en route to the South Bay for 4th of July festivities I'm happy that I did. The shop on Abbot Kinney is small and intimate and hosts clean, modern, and minimalistic décor. All of the baristas were warm and welcoming and because I was a first-timer, the cashier gladly explained the iced coffee options to me. I decided on the New Orleans – cold brew with cane sugar and milk – and it was pretty dreamy. Not too bitter, not too sweet – just the way I like it. I enjoyed it so much that I even purchased a small carton to go for an afternoon-pick-me-up later that day. The two Blue Bottle locations in LA are as follows: 582 Mateo St, Los Angeles, CA 90013 or 1103 Abbot Kinney Blvd, Venice, CA 90291.
Ain't no party like a juice flight party. I visited Verve Coffee recently in downtown LA and ordered their infamous juice flight + blueberry muffin. This was just the right breakfast to enjoy before heading out and exploring more of the downtown sights and scene. The juice flight includes 10 fresh juice flavors from Verve's partner Juice Served Here and even comes with a little menu that guides you as you taste each flavor in the right order. As you can see from the last picture above, the ones in the middle were my least favorite (I couldn't even finish them. They were too biter and/or spicy for me!) but the green ones in the beginning and sweet ones at the end were pretty delicious. Overall, it was a fun experience and obviously made for some great blog pics.
The atmosphere in Verve is very modern, green (it's like a jungle on their patio!), and trendy…like many coffee shops in DTLA. If you're downtown and looking for a quick way to refresh and hydrate downtown, visit Verve to get the juice flight or one of the more caffeinated options (I've heard they have a great cold brew + iced lattes). Visit Verve Coffee at 833 S. Spring Street, Los Angeles, CA 90014. So...how about a cup of Joe? My answer to this question will always & forever be yes, please! If you're looking for a cozy & contemporary cafe with a quirky vibe in the South Bay, look no further. Two Guns Espresso in Manhattan Beach is exactly this. You can order coffees, teas, and smoothies here as well as some tasty food options. I ordered the sugar free caramel iced latte and a veggie & egg breakfast sandwich on a pretzel bun (not pictured because I was too hungry to mess with all that). YUM. I love you a latte, Two Guns Espresso, and I promise to return to you! If you're looking for a caffeine pick me up in the South Bay, visit Two Guns Espresso at 350 N Sepulveda Blvd Ste 7, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266.
Go Get 'Em Tiger's has a clean, minimalist feel to the decor and limited seating room, with a few tables inside and a small patio outside. I love being able to sit and enjoy my coffee in the fresh air, so of course I opted for the patio. I ordered the macadamia almond milk sweet latte for my (much-needed) caffeine fix and to eat, the avocado toast topped with radishes, tomatoes, cilantro, sea salt and olive oil. I could have easily enjoyed two lattes (you know you have a caffeine problem when...) because the cup was small, but it was still delicious and not too sweet - just the way I like it. Next time I'm opting for something sweet to eat, like the yeast raised waffles with berries, lemon ricotta, and honey. Yummm! Drink + eat up at this cute little spot, and afterward I can guarantee you'll be ready to seize the day & GO GET 'EM, tiger! Visit GGET at 230 N Larchmont Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90004.
One of my best friends Shirah & I stopped by Intelligentsia Coffee for a mid-day caffeine pick-me-up last weekend. We both ordered the cold brew coffee and it was bold, delicious, and refreshing. I love trying new coffee shops - especially when you live in a city that is home to so many - and I would definitely come back to this Silverlake staple. The baristas were warm and inviting, and the atmosphere friendly. Intelligentsia Coffee has 3 locations in L.A. - Silverlake, Pasadena, and Venice. Click here to find the location nearest you. The Silverlake location has a large patio for seating and this would be the perfect place to bring your laptop and get some work done while sipping a delicious cup o' joe.
Here's some additional info. from Intelligentsia's website: "In our coffee bars you can expect to find remarkable coffee in all of its forms: whole bean, various approaches to brewed, and carefully prepared as espresso. Our goal is that each of these is presented in an environment steeped in education and humility. We want great coffee to be revered, yet democratic, approachable and accessible. By illuminating what is possible with coffee, we hope to change forever how you think about it. And that would be something." Words cannot espresso how much coffee means to me. If you're anything like me, your day doesn't technically start until you take that first, delicious sip. One of the reasons I love L.A. so much is there are unlimited specialty coffee shops to try in this city - no matter what part you're visiting. It's nice to break away from routine and try new spots, especially on weekends when I seem to wake up before anyone else in L.A. (6-7am), so I beat the crowds and find parking super easily (a total rarity around here). I like that you can walk up and order from the window and enjoy the fresh air while you wait for the goods. This morning I ordered iced coffee with almond milk for $3 and it was the perfect way to start my weekend off right. Also, how cute is this Commissary location in Hollywood on Sunset Blvd.? Unique and beautiful design & decor always catches my eye, and after driving past this cute shop almost every day for the past 2 months, I knew I had to try it out for myself. The Coffee Commissary has 4 locations throughout the Los Angeles area, and you can click here to find the one closest to you. Drink up and hope you have a great Memorial day weekend! Special thank you to those who have so bravely served our country.
Dinosaur Coffee says “things will be fine,” but I’m pretty sure they’ll be more than fine after you sip on their fresh brewed coffee. One of my best friends Liz and I came here last weekend for coffee + bagels before pedal boating around Echo Park Lake. Yeasty Boys bagel truck was set up right outside and I am still dreaming about my onion bagel (super yeasty – now I know where they get their name from). I'd suggest you check out this cute coffee shop in Silverlake and please don't ever forget that “things will be fine.” Check out Dinosaur Coffee at 4334 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90029.
