Otterbox Campaign: Symmetry in L.A.

I’ve been an Otterbox Ambassador for almost 6 months now, and I’m grateful to be a part of this team. I used Otterbox phone cases long before I begun collaborating with this company, and as an adventure-loving gal, it’s important for me to trust that my iPhone is well protected at all times. So, naturally, when asked if I could share with their followers how I find symmetry in my city and how I integrate their Symmetry Series into my adventures, I said, "Sign me up!”

I love Otterbox’s Symmetry Series because it protects my phone from those unexpected falls and drops, while also having a sleek, professional, and modern design. It is the slimmest OtterBox case to date, offers complete drop/fall/tumble protection, slips on and off your phone super easily, AND comes in a variety of colorful or more neutral designs. It’s not bulky, slips easily in and out of the side pocket of my purse and camera bag, and I like the way it feels in my hand when taking pictures. I take my iPhone clothed in its Otterbox on every adventure I go on, so it was fun to incorporate this product into my quest to find symmetry in Los Angeles’ architecture, attractions, and scenes.

Symmetry seems to be everywhere in Los Angeles - from the architecture, art, attractions, and more - and it was so fun to think creatively about how to best capture some of the symmetry here. When I began looking for symmetry in the city, I also began to wonder, why is it that the eye is so drawn toward symmetry? I did some research for my own creative development, and I thought these articles were particularly interesting:

Check out where I found some beautiful symmetry in Los Angeles below:

Quintessential LA: palm tree lined streets, blue skies, and 70 degree temps almost year round. Fun fact: In 1931, L.A.’s forestry division planted more than 25,000 palm trees throughout the city, many of which are still standing today.

Here’s LA’s gateway to the cosmos: the iconic Griffith Observatory! At this 70+ year old observatory, visitors can look through telescopes, explore exhibits, and experience amazing views of the LA skyline, Hollywood Sign, and out to the ocean on a clear day.

One of my favorite hidden gems in all of the LA is Wayfarers Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes. Lloyd Wright designed this as “a tree chapel; a natural sanctuary set in the midst of a forest." Both the symmetry and natural light make this a beautiful space to explore and photograph.

My favorite neighborhood in all of Los Angeles is Downtown. DTLA is an amazing and diverse area full of history, art, fashion, restaurants, bars, live music venues, and more - which results in countless things to do & see.

The Urban Lights @LACMA are 202 restored cast iron antique street lamps from the 1920’s & 1930’s that once lined the streets of LA. The lights are so beautiful and majestic to see – both during the day and at night – and all of LA must agree considering how busy this spot always is!

The @BroadMuseum is LA's newest contemporary art museum, home to over 2,000 captivating works of modern art. It’s free to visit, and you’ll see symmetry not only in the exterior architecture, but also in various works of art throughout the museum.

I hope you enjoyed seeing some of the content I created for Otterbox’s Symmetry Series, and encourage you to be on the lookout for symmetry in your own city! Lastly, I’d recommend following @Otterbox on Instagram and click here to start shopping* for your own OtterBox!
